What is the difference between natural & store bought soap?

Natural soap is handmade the old fashion way, using all natural ingredients. Store bought soap is mostly synthetic, and is full of harsh detergents and chemicals- yes even the ones on Wal-Mart's shelves claiming to be natural. Most large-scale manufactures of soap extract glycerin from soap and sell it as a byproduct to other companies. In fact, most store bought soap you are using right now is a detergent bar, not soap. If you get out of the shower and your skin feels tight and itchy, there is a good chance you are using detergent on your skin.

This includes the highly touted "glycerin" soap- handmade soap has more naturally occurring glycerin than store bought glycerin soap. Do not think that just because soap is clear that is glycerin. Look at the ingredients and you can see just what is in your store bought soap. Look for ingredients like animal fat (tallow) and synthetic chemicals. Do you really want to put something on your skin that you cannot even pronounce?

Wild Wind Soap Company makes cold process soap to give you the very best in skin care while using natural ingredients. We do not use harmful chemicals, synthetic preservatives, cheap petroleum products, fake dyes, or synthetic fragrance oils. Be especially wary of fragrance oils, perfume oils, & potpourri oils, which are all synthetic fragrance oils. Be aware that because a product has a botanical sounding name does NOT mean it came from a plant. Banana, watermelon, grape, strawberry, mango and coconut are all synthetic scents. These days you also have to beware of melt & pour soap. Crafters will buy an already made soap base that may or may not have detergents in them. The products are then melt, dyed, and put in a mold. Unknown customers are told it is natural soap, it is not! You can feel the difference!

What are "Essential Oils"?

Essential Oils are natural extracts (usually distilled) directly from real plants.

Synthetics Beware-the best way to identify synthetic fragrance is if the label says "fragrance" on the ingredients list. Anyone who is using pure Essential Oils will list them on their label, because they want people to know about it. Wild Wind Soap Company uses only pure essential oils, we use absolutely no fragrance oils or other synthetics in our products and you can count on it!

Essential Oils come from real plants, and are volatile natural plant essences that often have been distilled; perfumes could contain some natural essential oils, but are usually made of sometimes-toxic chemical formulations, designed for potency and intensity. Many people who have sensitivities to commercial products are actually allergic to the perfumes or fragrances used in the product, because the chemicals are so strong.

If these names are on your label they are synthetic: FD&C colors, dyes, EDTA, TEA, DEA, sodium laureth and sodium lauryl sulfates. Give our soap a try, when you are done you will not have dried, tight or itchy, skin. There is nothing like well made, glycerin rich, natural olive oil soap to leave your skin feeling soft, smooth, and nourished.
